Aegoromantic (formerly known as autochorisromantic[1][2]) is a romantic orientation on the aromantic spectrum in which one enjoys the idea of romance, but does not experience romantic attraction[1] and does not want to participate in romantic activities.[3] An aegoromantic person might enjoy consuming romantic content or have romantic fantasies, but be uninterested in romance when it involves themselves. It is associated with a disconnect between the aegoromantic person and their romantic target or fantasy.[4]

Common Definitions[]

–AUREA[3]

Flags[]

Four aegoromantic flags were created on June 26, 2016, by Tumblr user pride-color-schemes.[1]

Two alternate flags were created by Reddit user I_am_something_fishy in February 2024, in order to give aegoromantics a flag that looked more different from the aegosexual flag. The green stripes represent aromanticism and the pink stripes represent romance, and the overall low contrast represents the fantasy of romance.[5]

Symbol[]
