Butch is a term primarily used in the sapphic community to describe a queer woman who has a masculine gender expression.[1] Though, for many, this goes beyond gender expression. It is also used by non-binary and genderqueer individuals, and has a history of being used by gay men as well.[2]

The most popular butch flag was created by Tumblr user butchspace.[4]
An older butch flag was created by a deactivated user named dorian-rutherford.[5] It was uploaded onto DeviantArt by user Pride-Flags on August 25, 2016.[6]
Another butch flag was created on August 14, 2021, by X user Sol Diaz.[7]
The Black Butch Community flag was created by Tumblr user The Gender Thieves. This flag is exclusive to black butch individuals.[8]
