Fraysexual, also known as ignotasexual, is a sexual orientation on the asexual spectrum in which one only experiences sexual attraction towards those that they are less familiar with and lose that attraction as they get to know the person. Fraysexual is often described as being the opposite of demisexual.[1][2]

The term "fraysexual" was coined alongside frayromantic on or before July 18, 2014 by Tumblr user edensmachine.[1]
The term "ignotasexual" was coined alongside ignotaromantic on or before December 14, 2014 by Tumblr user aroacesafeplace.[2]
Flag[]
The fraysexual flag was created on July 18, 2014 by Tumblr user pridearchive. It was originally meant to represent both fraysexuality and frayromanticism. Blue and cyan represent a less familiar relationship with people, and are complementary colors to red and yellow, which symbolize romantic and platonic love.[3]
Symbol[]
The fraysexual symbol was created on October 26, 2021 by LGBTQIA+ wiki user WiiFyneLM. It was created to be a counter to the demisexual symbol.[4]
Etymology[]
The "fray" prefix in comes from the Old English word for "stranger."[1] The "ignota" prefix comes from the Latin word "ignotas," which means "unfamiliar."[2]
