Being attracted to every gender except biologically male people

Romantic equivalent: Nonmasculiromantic
Meaning: Being attracted to every gender except biological males
Prefix: NMS-

Nonmasculisexual is a sexual orientation characterized by an individual's attraction to people of all genders except biologically male individuals. This attraction is not determined by gender identity but rather by the exclusion of individuals assigned male at birth from one's pool of potential partners. Nonmasculisexual individuals experience romantic, emotional, and sexual attraction towards non-binary individuals, women, and individuals of other gender identities. Those who identify as Nonmasculisexual may still be attracted to trans women and other gender non-conforming AMAB people.

Etymology[]

The term "nonmasculisexual" is derived from a combination of "nonmasculine," referring to the exclusion of male-associated characteristics, and "sexual," denoting the realm of attraction and desire. It underscores the focus on attraction to individuals who do not align with the male biological sex.

Flag[]

  • The deep red represents feminity, as you're attracted to female individuals.
  • The purple represents any gender in between male and female.
  • The blue represents the male sex, which is only at the bottom and more muted, and the 3 dots that are there are much lighter, representing that you're not attracted to them.

Attraction and Tendencies[]

Nonmasculisexual individuals experience a spectrum of attractions, including romantic, emotional, and sexual, toward people who are not biologically male. This may include individuals who identify as non-binary, transgender women, genderqueer, and other genders outside the traditional male binary.

Social Issues[]

  • Misunderstanding and Mislabeling: Nonmasculisexual individuals may face misunderstandings from both within and outside the LGBTQ+ community. Their attractions may be misconstrued as merely preferences or misunderstood as a lack of attraction to all males, rather than a specific attraction based on gender identity.
  • Bi-Erasure and Binary Assumptions: Some individuals might struggle to comprehend the notion of attraction that excludes biologically male individuals while still being inclusive of various gender identities. This can result in the erasure of nonmasculisexual identities, as some might mistakenly assume that nonmasculisexual people are actually bisexual.
  • Visibility and Representation: Nonmasculisexual individuals often grapple with a lack of visibility and representation both within media and LGBTQ+ spaces. The absence of role models and community representation can lead to feelings of isolation and marginalization.
