Poly Straight (also known as Ply Straight) is a term for those that identify as both poly- and straight in some way. It is under the M-Spec Straight umbrella. Reasons for identifying as such include:
- Being heteroflexible and occasionally experiencing attraction to other genders, or having more attraction to dissimilar genders to one's own gender than other genders
- Experiencing poly- attraction in one type of orientation and straight in another (ex. varioriented individuals, heteroplatonic polysensual, heterosexual polyaesthetic, etc)
- Experiencing attraction to strayt individuals and individuals that are the opposite of one's own gender
- Being in a system with both poly and straight members
- Being abro- and experiencing both poly- and straight attraction in one's abro- orientation
- Being multigender or polygender, causing one to describe one's attraction as both poly- and straight for any reason
- Experiencing attraction towards multiple dissimilar genders when compared to one's own gender (ex. a woman that is attracted to male-aligned individuals)
History[]
It is unknown when the term was coined, but the flag was created alongside other M-Spec Straight identity flags on July 29, 2020 by Tumblr user forestcoric-mogai-fox.[1]
The symbol was eventually made alongside other M-Spec Straight symbols by the same user on May 19, 2021, alongside the alternate flag with the symbol.[2]
