Quoisexual

Quoisexual, also known as WTFsexual, is a sexual orientation that can be considered to be on the asexual spectrum. It has multiple definitions:

Sexual orientation and/or attraction as a concept/experience do not make sense to an individual;^[2]^[3] one finds the concept of sexual attraction to be inapplicable, inaccessible, and/or nonsensical.^[1]
One doesn't know what sexual attraction is and therefore can't tell if they experience it or not.^[1]
One has difficulty differentiating between sexual attraction and other types of attraction (ex. sensual attraction, platonic attraction).^[1]
One cannot find a better term^[2] because their orientation is too complicated/no other terms fit; a catch-all for those who fall on the asexual spectrum but can't define their orientation beyond that.^[1]
One doesn't experience sexuality in a traditional manner.^[1]
One dis-identifies with the construct of sexual attraction/orientation entirely.^[2]^[3]
One cannot completely or strongly understand sexual attraction/desire

Common Definitions[]

“	quoisexual / wtfsexual: similar to how quoiromantic/wtfromantic often means romantic orientation and/or romantic attraction do not make sense for a person, instead sexual orientation and/or attraction does not make sense as a concept or an experience can also mean someone for whom the experience of sexual attraction is confusing, someone who cannot tell if they experience sexual attraction or if what they experience is indeed sexual attraction (except, perhaps, through extensive abstract analysis, or through abstraction of a pattern of data sets acquired only through experimentation) can also mean someone who disidentifies with the concept of sexual attraction altogether, as a social construct or as not applicable to themself or otherwise can also be used instead of “questioning,” which indicates an ongoing search for a better term; quoisexual or wtfsexual instead indicates a troubled history with sexual orientation words/identities, and perhaps a frustration with searching, or finding such a search unhelpful; instead using quoisexual/wtfsexual as a more permanent, stable, unchanging, fixed point. Flags[]

The first quoisexual flag was created by Tumblr user epochryphal on September 21, 2015, to represent all quoi- identities.^[4]

The flag that is now used as the main quoisexual flag was created on or before July 6, 2016, by Tumblr user pride-flags-for-us,^[1] and it was intended to represent both quoisexuality and quoiromanticism. Another quoiromantic/quoisexual flag was created by Tumblr user chaotic-evil-gender^[5] in the same time frame.^[1]

Two simplified versions of epochryphal's quoi- flag were created on May 22, 2019 by Tumblr user queer-buccaneers.^[6] The purple/gray flag represents all quoi- identities, and the teal/green flag represents all quoi-orientations.

An alternate quoisexual flag was created on September 10, 2021 by Tumblr user mogai-sunflowers.^[7] Tumblr user yuyush1ma created an alternate quoisexual flag on October 3, 2022,^[8] and another flag was created sometime in November 2021 by Tumblr user acetsygane.^[9]

Two alternate flags were probably created by Fandom user Touchcreator on or before January 23, 2022.^[10]^[11] Tumblr user allegoriesandepithets created another alternate quoisexual flag on August 6, 2024.^[12]
