T4T

T4T (trans4trans), TLT (trans-loving-trans) or Trans for Trans describes a transgender individual who either prefers to or exclusively shares encounters and/or relationships with other transgender individuals, whether or not those encounters/relationships are platonic, sexual, or romantic.

T4T is not its own determinate attraction but can be both a preference and/or orientation that can be joined with another orientation to better describe oneself. A few examples of these can include: a T4T bisexual, a T4T heterosexual, a T4T lesbian, and many more.

Possible Reasons for Being T4T[]

There are various reasons that someone may be T4T, whether it is a choice or an involuntary attraction that is exclusive, or a lack of attraction. These reasons can sometimes be personal or precautionary. Not every T4T individual chooses to be T4T. Some may just simply be unable to find themself attracted to cisgender individuals for whatever reasons there may be.

Positive Reasons[]

Feeling a sense of security and familiarity with someone who shares the same or a similar experience as they do
Finding a sense of automatic acceptance and understanding between fellow transgender people
Feeling a stronger sense of connection with fellow transgender people
Feeling more free and comfortable with fellow transgender people
Feeling a lower amount of gender dysphoria that is lessened from being with fellow transgender people

Negative Reasons[]

Not wanting to be viewed as "complicated" or "high maintenance" by an uninformed cisgender person
Not wanting to be viewed as a "learning experience" or a "lesson" by an uninformed cisgender person
Not wanting to have to undergo certain circumstances that may come from being with cisgender people
Feeling uncomfortable with the opposite sex regardless of the individual's gender identity
Feeling a higher amount of gender dysphoria that may come from being with cisgender people

History[]

On June 27th, 2018, an anonymous user on Tumblr submitted several flag reposts to the blog beyond-mogai-pride-flags, coining "someone-loving-someone" terms.^[2] Among them was their term "TLT (trans-loving-trans): Campion," and the earliest known design of the T4T flag. The original post was from May 31st, 2018.^[3]

On January 2nd, 2021, Tumblr user polyamaesthetic uploaded a moodboard where they included an edited flag from the "TLT / Campion" flag, which they dubbed the "T4T/TLT" flag.^[4] In the thread, Tumblr user arco-pluris asked if this was a redesign of their "TLT/campion" flag.^[5]

On January 12th, 2021, arco-pluris posted the edited version of their flags adapted by polyamaesthetic in June 2020.^[6]
