Xenoamoric is an umbrella term for sexual or romantic orientations that cannot be fully described with words or labels. Xenoamoric individuals usually have a strong understanding of their orientation, but seemingly cannot find the words to describe it, so they may use metaphor to describe themselves and their gender, which influences their orientation.
When described, xenoamoric orientations often fall into one or more of four categories:
- Nouns and archetypes: instead of saying how one's sexuality relates to attraction to masculinity, androgyny, xeninity and/or femininity, one says their sexual or romantic orientation is, or is like, a kind of animal, an imaginary being, a part of nature, an abstract concept, or a symbol.
Some orientations under the xenoamoric umbrella may include:
- Orientations in the eggsexual system.
- Muuno- orientations.
- Neurotype orientations: when a neurodivergent individual's neurotype(s) is/are an inseparable part of their sexual or romantic attraction. these orientations are exclusive to individuals of the neurotype(s) associated with them.
- Autisexual.
- Neuroasexual.
- Situational orientations: when one's sexual or romantic orientation, or amount of attraction felt, changes based on the situation.
- Dreamsexual.
- Emotusexual/romantic.
